Strata Clean Energy is a family-owned company transforming American energy. From our start in rooftop solar, we have become experts in the entire project lifecycle and learned to optimize it for unmatched performance. Strata Energy's focus is always on lifetime performance, not short-term goals, which is why we still own over 50% of our projects. The Maroon Solar project in Culpeper County will be built entirely on private land, on ground-mounted solar arrays with a gentle footprint. Resting above the ground, it offers a chance to regenerate minerally depleted soils and revitalize land that’s not suited for agriculture. In addition to restoring heavily logged timber land, we are committed to becoming community partners, with this project we will bring new jobs and generate tax revenue that can go to local schools and infrastructure.
Job creation, tax revenue, affordable power, land restoration and the list goes on. To view a full list of project benefits, please visit our Benefits page.
The project is estimated to create more than 500 construction jobs while building the solar arrays, generating about $33.6 million dollars in associated labor income, plus $79.5 million dollars in economic output. On completion, it will create full-time operational jobs which would bring in over $278,000 in associated annual labor income for local workers, as well as about $1.0 million in economic output.
We have been working with neighbors, environmental experts, and county leaders to come back with a new plan that reflects everything we have learned. Our new plan begins the revegetation of property that needs an environmental refresh and blends the project in with the natural landscape. We’ve increased setbacks, added screening, reconfigured access, and reduced the project footprint so that it’s entirely secluded.
