It was essential for us to hear community feedback and discover how Culpeper County could benefit from low-cost, zero-carbon solar energy, while at the same time honoring the land. The new project will help revitalize private property in a secluded area of Stevensburg District, far from sensitive agricultural or historically significant land.

The new plan begins the revegetation of property that needs an environmental refresh and blends the project in with the natural landscape. We’ve increased setbacks, added screening, reconfigured access, and reduced the project footprint so that it’s entirely secluded.

Restoring the Land

The solar project will be built on soil not suitable for agriculture, avoiding wetlands, critical habitat, and historical resources. It will help restore former timberland back to health.

While generating affordable power for Culpeper County, the project will also bring in substantial revenue for the county while fulfilling county policy.
